GoWith family roots on the Isle of Man that can be traced back through the centuries, local couple and entrepreneurs Paul and Tiffany Kerruish founded The Fynoderee Distillery in 2017.
Their passion for distilling premium Manx spirits with genuine provenance took us from humble beginnings - in a shed at the back of their home - to a much-loved local drinks brand, renowned for our premium range of award-winning Manx Gins, Rum and Vodka - and soon to include grain to bottle Single Malt Whiskey - Ushtey Bea Fynoderee.
Located in Ramsey, a small seaside town in the north of the Isle of Man, our name and visual identity is inspired by The Fynoderee Folklore Story - a traditional Manx tale set in Glen Auldyn.
Glen Auldyn is a picturesque glen situated a mile outside of Ramsey. It is a narrow valley with a river of the same name. Glen Auldyn translates to “Glen of Mountain Streams”. Its source is high up near the Island’s tallest peak, the mountain of “Snaefell”, and descends steeply through ruggedly beautiful scenery, including protected peat bogs and deciduous woodland. It eventually joins the Island’s longest river, “the Sulby”, which flows through Ramsey harbour and out to the Irish Sea.
As a partner business to the UNESCO Biosphere Isle of Man, our ethos is to operate The Fynoderee Distillery in a way that helps to protect natural resources, develops our local economy, promotes our unique cultural heritage, and engages with our Island community.
We are incredibly proud of our ‘home grown’ local team and love nothing more than actively engaging with visitors to share our unique Island spirit.
Co-Founder - CEO - Head Distiller
As a practicing Advocate, there could be no better person than Paul to worry about all the fine detail, complexity and planning (and endless form-filling) that goes with running a distillery!
Ensuring that all the 'powers that be’ are happy with what we’re up to is no mean achievement and his plate spinning skills while maintaining his (mostly) jovial demeanour are legendary!
Paul is involved every step of the way with the strategic and creative development of The Fynoderee Distillery.
If you have a query about the general management at Fynoderee then Paul is your man!
Co-Founder - Sales & Marketing Director
A former marketing consultant, Tiffany is the very heart of The Fynodeee Distillery brand and has an amazing ability to craft beautiful and Fyntastic prose - usually under pressure!
Tiffany collaborates with Paul and artist Julia Ashby Smyth to create our mythical characters and is the voice of The Fynoderee Distillery on our social media channels.
If you would like to stock Fynoderee spirits, hire the Fyn Bar for an event or enquire about our products, then please contact Tiffany... She really enjoys a good old ‘Gin Wag’ too!
Co-Founder - Gin Consultant
Born opposite a distillery in Glasgow, Gerard has been in the wine & spirits trade since he was 14 years old. Various roles in both the on and off trade led to an exciting opportunity to join Tanqueray Gordon & Co. where he progressed over the years to become “Distiller’ perfecting his ‘organoleptic’ (nosing) assessment skills along the way.
During his time at Tanqueray Gordon & Co. he worked on famous brands such as Smirnoff Black Vodka and Tanqueray 10. He then joined Crouch Vale Brewery where he developed his skills in craft beer making, winning several awards. His last role before becoming a founding member of Fynoderee was with Masons Dry Yorkshire Gin where he was Head Distiller and developed for the owners a multi award winning range of Gins and Vodka.
In collaboration with Paul and Tiffany, Gerard crafted the recipes for our Four Seasons of Fynoderee Manx Dry Gins, Manx Bumbee Vodka and Kerala Chai Gin.
We were introduced to the story of The Fynoderee by our interest in the Ramsey Forest Project / Reintroduction of Juniper that has taken place in Glen Auldyn.
This lovely Manx folklore story is set in the very same location as the newly planted Juniper groves.
The Fynoderee Folk StoryThe ancient kingdom of the Isle of Man lies in the Irish Sea nestled within the heart of the British Isles. Folklore, superstition and legend are woven deep into the fabric of everyday life.
Historically, belief in the existence of good and evil fairies and the stories that surround these beliefs were more prevalent here than any other part of Britain.
