Warm conditions interspersed with some gentle midsummer rainfall has really pushed on the crop and we were delighted yesterday to be greeted with a field full of swaying “ears”…
These ears are a spike, consisting of a central stem on which tightly packed rows of flowers grow. These will develop into fruits containing the edible grain….the bit we’re after for our Manx Malt Whiskey!
