Ginny Patch – Update

So the question we’re asked more than anything of late is when will the Ginny Patch be opening?

It’s been wonderful to hear how excited you all are for our outside terrace!

Unfortunately we weren’t able to get the works completed in time for TT, but we had hoped to really ramp it up this week, with tradespeople lined up ready to help us.

Sadly, just before the weekend, we received notification that an appeal has been lodged against the unanimous planning permission we were granted, which will now considerably delay our progress.

An appeal process can take months. While we’re confident that the outcome will be successful, we are left in a situation now where we cannot make any further progress and make the most of the summer weather.

From MER passengers and our customers, to local residents with no gardens, we had hoped that enhancing this lovely area would benefit so many in our community and provide a vibrant new asset for the town where the sun always shines.

At this stage it would be a considerable investment that we, as a wholly independent hospitality business, simply cannot make if it means missing the best of the summer season and fine weather.

Regrettably – unless the appeal is withdrawn – this means that our pursuit of the Ginny Patch dream will now have to be a project for 2023.

Naturally, we’re all incredibly disappointed. But when the time comes we’ll be doing all we can to see it flourish.
